JAMMU, FEBRUARY 18 (KNO) : Minister for Works (R&B), Naeem Akhtar has welcomed the statement of the Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti regarding relocating of the Central University Kashmir site within district Ganderbal. Mr Akhtar said as has been made clear by the Chief Minister there is no proposal of shifting CUK campus from Ganderbal.

He said as the Union Ministry of Human Resources Development has raised apprehensions over the feasibility of the existing CUK site near Tulmulla, the Government would explore alternative sites within the district for the University. He said some vested interests have spreading canards that the CUK is being shifted from Ganderbal which is totally wrong.

The Minister said the Education Minister has also clarified in the Lower House during the recent Budget Session that there is no any proposal for shifting of Central University of Kashmir from district Ganderbal. He hoped that the administration will put all their efforts to identify the alternate suitable site within Ganderbal at an earliest so that work on this prestigious project could be started soon.(KNO)
